Environmental Registers and Local Risks

Landfills, priority sites, heat, wildlife, and mining history

This section is the due-diligence layer. It is not about judging an area, it is about understanding environmental context that can affect planning, comfort, and long-term decisions.

We include nearby landfills and EPA priority sites where present. These registers are useful, but they are not exhaustive. The absence of a listing is not proof that a site has no history, and the presence of a listing is a cue to read further.

We also surface urban heat indicators and local wildlife context like flying-fox colonies, because they can shape the lived experience of a location. The same goes for historic mining activity, which is part of Victoria's long land-use story.

Finally, we show gambling venue density as a factual context marker, not a value judgement. Use it as a simple signal if it matters to you.

If any of these flags show up, the next step is to read the official source and decide what follow-up is needed.
