Question 1

How accurate is the data?

Accepted Answer

We use official government data sources wherever possible, including PTV for transport, the Crime Statistics Agency for crime data, and the Department of Education for schools. See our methodology page for full details. Data is updated periodically but may not reflect the most recent changes.

Question 2

What areas does Close Enough cover?

Accepted Answer

Close Enough covers all of Victoria, Australia. Data quality is highest within Greater Melbourne. Regional areas may have reduced coverage for some metrics, and you will see a warning when looking up regional addresses.

Question 3

How do free lookups work?

Accepted Answer

Lookups are free: 3 a day without an account, 25 a day with a free one. Each lookup shows transport access, nearby parks, planning overlays, schools, and basic amenities. An account also saves your addresses.

Question 4

What is a Report?

Accepted Answer

Reports are comprehensive PDF documents with detailed travel time analysis for a specific address. They include walking, cycling, driving, and public transport times to nearby amenities, schools, and parks. They are not available to buy right now: join the waitlist and we will email you when they are.

Question 5

How do I compare addresses?

Accepted Answer

After looking up an address, click the Compare button to add it to a comparison. You can compare up to 3 addresses side by side. Visit the compare page directly to start a new comparison.

Question 6

Do you sell anything?

Accepted Answer

Not right now. Lookups are free, and deep reports, Pro and agent plans are on a waitlist while we work out what people want from them. Join the waitlist for any of them. If you bought something before, it still works; contact support with any question about it.

Question 7

Is my data private?

Accepted Answer

We don't sell your data or share it with advertisers. Address lookups and reports are linked to your account for your convenience only. See the privacy policy for full details on what data we collect and how it's used.

Question 8

Why does the app need location access?

Accepted Answer

Location access is optional and only available in the Close Enough mobile app. If you grant permission, the Use my location button can fill in your current address. Your location is converted to an address immediately and is not stored or tracked.

Question 9

The data seems wrong for my address

Accepted Answer

If you notice incorrect data, use the Contact Support button and include the address and what seems wrong. Some data sources update on different schedules, so recent changes may not be reflected yet.
